A Legacy of Compassion and Care

Every gift to St. Joseph Medical Center is truly a legacy. Decades from now, patients and staff will look back on the contributions made today as evidence of a strong, ongoing commitment to the mission of this outstanding hospital founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1864.

Gifts to St. Joseph Medical Center support ongoing programs, including nursing education and advancement, investing in specialized new technology and expanding services into new areas of need. Our new Cancer Institute, along with our nationally recognized Heart and Orthopaedic Institutes, the recently renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and programs to serve underprivileged patients locally and worldwide are some of the many important areas that have benefited from the generosity of our donors.

These gifts, that can include time and talent, as well as treasure, allow St. Joseph to fulfill our patient promise to serve the community with expert, personal and faith-filled care.

Cardinal William H. Keeler Spiritual Center

With his blessing and support, we are proud to announce that the new Spiritual Center will be re-dedicated in honor of Cardinal William H. Keeler, retired Archbishop of Baltimore. The new Spiritual Center will house the Chapel, Meditation Garden, Interfaith Prayer Room and Spiritual Care suite. Learn more about the Spiritual Center and how to make a gift.

Faith and Mrs. Decker

Philanthropy is oftentimes a gesture with great meaning behind it. In the case of Virginia Decker, whose husband Alonzo's family founded the Baltimore-based Black&Decker, a recent gift of $500,000 presented to St. Joseph Medical Center's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was a momentous and meaningful gesture intended for the tiniest, most fragile patients. Mrs. Decker's gift was part of a $4 million renovation and expansion plan. The medical center was most honored to name the new NICU The Mrs. Alonzo G. Decker Jr. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. more +

Michael Schultz  Joan and Michael Schultz have a keen understanding of the importance of philanthropy when it comes to building a state-of-the-art healthcare program. Their signature gift of $100,000, announced at the Gala, will benefit The Breast Center at St. Joseph Medical Center's Cancer Institute. Dr. Schultz, director of the Center, is emphatic about showing his own commitment before asking others to come forward. more +
