St. Joseph Becomes First Area Hospital with Patient Kiosk Registration Fast, New “Express-In” Resembles Airport Check-In

(Towson, MD)On Monday, January 11, 2010, patients coming to St. Joseph Medical Center will be introduced to a new registration process that provides convenience and speed – all at their fingertips.

“Express-In” is the name of the new kiosk registration process that features a touch screen for patients having outpatient scheduled services, such as surgery or diagnostic testing. Registration representatives will be on hand to assist patients with the kiosks, which are located conveniently in the front lobby by the main door and the information desk.

“The registration process is reduced on average from 15 minutes to three minutes,” explains Diane Boulay, director of Revenue Cycle/Managed Care at St. Joseph Medical Center, whose department manages patient registration.

“The idea behind the kiosk is to make the registration process as easy and hassle-free as possible. We know these patients are coming; they’ve pre-registered either telephonically, on-line or through informed mail. We know their information and now we want to move them as quickly through the process as possible. This is a customer-friendly process,” says Boulay.
